Dr. Clay Sankey

Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine

Hi, I’m Dr. Clay Sankey, chiropractor and owner of TruMotion Therapy.

I went to high school at Providence Day School in Charlotte where I ran track and cross country.  It was a running related injury that brought me to a chiropractor for the first time.  I quickly saw the value in regular chiropractic care for overall health and performance and made it part of my routine.  I then went on to run cross country and track at Elon University where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science.

It was my early exposure to chiropractic and my general interest in health and performance that led me to pursue a career as a sports chiropractor.  After undergrad, I moved to St. Louis to attend Logan University where I got my doctorate degree in Chiropractic and my master’s degree in Sports and Rehabilitation.

While in school I strived to learn as many treatment methodologies as possible to help my future patients, and I eventually completed over 500 hours of extracurricular work in techniques like Active Release, The McKenzie Method, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Titleist Performance Institute, Acupuncture, Dry Needling, Kinesiology Taping, Motion Palpation Institute, and Cupping.  I enjoy continuing my education to this day with my current focus being Diagnostic Ultrasound.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy spending time with my wife, 3 kids, and fluff-ball of a German Shepherd.  We stay active by running, mountain biking, rock climbing, and camping.  Most of my racing efforts these days are focused on trail races from half marathon to ultra marathon.

When treating patients, it is important to look at the big picture.  A patient is more than their pain.  Previous injuries, previous treatment experiences (both good and bad), lifestyle factors, and future goals all play a role in how someone will respond to treatment.  No two cases of back pain are the same, and being able to piece together the puzzle of each patient case makes clinical practice very enjoyable for me.
