Dr. Zack Ratliff
Doctor of Chiropractic Medicine
Hi I’m Dr. Zack, Chiropractor at TruMotion Therapy.
I went to Weddington High school in the suburbs of Charlotte, NC where I played baseball and ventured into endurance sports. I went on to Appalachian State University and graduated with a bachelors of Athletic Training. The Athletic Training program at App State allowed me to work closely with athletes on the Track & Field, Wrestling, and Football teams. While in college I competed on the triathlon and cycling teams and ran various races from 5k to marathon distances. I also enjoyed hiking and snowboarding while living in the mountains.
I primarily associated Chiropractic care with treating issues related to the spine until my dad was referred to a sports chiropractor for a running injury. I realized chiropractors use numerous techniques of sports medicine to help patients recover from injury. Shortly after my dad’s injury was treated, I was hit by a car while walking on campus at App State and seeing a local chiropractor was pivotal in my treatment and recovery. This experience spurred me on to pursue my own career as a chiropractor. I went on to complete my Doctorate of Chiropractic at Logan University in St. Louis, Missouri.Â
During my time in school it was a goal to study many different techniques and treatment approaches in order to help treat a wide array of different patients. Over the years I have taken additional training in techniques like Active Release, The Mckenzie Method, dry needling, rehab/corrective exercises, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization, Selective Functional Movement Assessment, Functional Release, kinesiology taping, Instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization, and cupping. Outside of clinical training I have also taken training as a Crossfit L1 coach. IÂ add more techniques to my skill set regularly, with current focus on neural mobilizations and more advanced dry needling.
Outside of the clinic I enjoy spending time with my wife (Brittni), little girl (Clarke), and husky mix (George). We love running, Crossfit, mountain biking, hiking, and exploring new spots in Charlotte.
My approach to patient care considers the whole person, not just the current injury. Understanding a patient’s goals, previous injuries/experiences, and lifestyle factors play a huge role in creating a comprehensive treatment plan. I enjoy taking the time to listen to your full story and helping patients reverse engineer a plan back to the activities they find meaningful.
